In this vibrant summer, Guangzhou is honored to host 2008 International Convention on Science, Education and Medicine in Sport. On behalf of the Organizing Committee of ICSEMIS, the People’s Government of Guangdong and the 94 million local residents, I would like to extend the warmest greetings to the distinguished guests, scientists and scholars present today. 
The Convention is a grand occasion for the world sports community discussing about sport science and social harmony in the 21st century. We aim it as our target to host the world-class convention with world-class organization, world-class services in a world-class venue. This commitment carried us all the way throughout the preparation.
Guangdong is both the gateway to South China and the forefront of the nation’s reform and opening up. For decades, its economy and social undertakings, like culture and sport, have progressed tremendously. It is our common desire and strong motivation to make 2008 ICSEMIS a success. We will continue to provide the attendees with quality service and effective management which secures a fruitful exchange of ideas in sport science. And we rest assured that with the joint efforts of the four international organizations, the General Administration of Sport and international world of sport science, 2008 ICSEMIS will become a milestone in the sport history as a successful international convention sharing Olympic essence and earmarking Chinese features with a touch of Guangdong. 
Last but not the least, I wish 2008 ICSEMIS a great success and all the distinguished guests and friends an enjoyable stay in Guangdong.
