The opening ceremony of the 2008 International Convention on Science, Education and Medicine in Sports (ICSEMIS) was held in Baiyun International Convention Center today.
The theme of the Convention ‘Sport Sciences and Harmonious Society in the 21st Century’ recognizes the importance played by sport and exercise science, sports medicine and education in the development of both Guangzhou and the society as a whole and as a key aspect in the rapid development of China and the health of the Chinese community. Under the principle of Abiding by international conventions with Chinese characteristics, invitation and reception work has been concluded, and various services provided. Security has been highlighted as a key issue, as the Conference is being held immediately preceding the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In the four day program, experts and scholars from all over the world will share their ideas representing the development of their fields in the flourishing city of Guangzhou. Hopefully this conference will be a productive one and a wonderful prelude of the Olympic Games starting next week.
