1. How can I found out if my abstract have been accepted or not?

A: The Scientific Committee of ICSEMIS 2008 is in charge of all the abstract review. Please refer your question to them by sending email to icsemisscs@icsemis2008.org.

2. Where can I find more about scientific program of the Convention?

A: The 2008 ICSEMIS website (www.icsemis2008.org) contains information about the program. But if you have further questions about the program, please refer them to the Scientific Committee by sending email to icsemisscs@icsemis2008.org.

3. I have an accompanying person. Can you also send invitation to him?

A: Please register the accompanying person on the Convention website www.icsemis2008.org asap including their full name, title and mailing address. Your early registration is appreciated because we will have to arrange the original invitation letter sent to you by courier. If you have already registered, but without providing mailing details, please send them to icsemisoc@yahoo.cn.

4. Due to my personal business, I want to arrive in China earlier and/or leave later. Can I get an invitation covering the prolonged period?

A: The OC will only send invitation stating you will be attending 2008 ICSEMIS from August 1st to 4th. However, you could apply for longer period with the local Chinese visa service when submitting your visa application. The decision whether to grant you the visa is with the local Chinese visa service.

5. What is required for the application of Chinese visa?

A: According to the Chinese visa regulations, the original invitation letter is needed for foreign nationality and Taiwan compatriots. There is no need for Chinese passport holders including some overseas Chinese and HK & Macao residents to apply for Chinese visa. But we will send them invitations in PDF format by email. Apart from that, we highly recommend visa applicants prepare their online registration receipt (as proof of hotel reservation) and air booking receipt and present these documents together with the original invitation letter. For detailed requirements, please consult the local Chinese visa service.

6. I am of foreign nationality and I have received the abstract acceptance notification. I will need the original invitation to apply for Chinese visa, but I haven’t sent my mailing address to OC.

A: Please provide your mailing details asap. It takes time to arrange the original invitation to be sent to you by courier and for you apply for Chinese visa.

7. I want to go to Beijing to see the Olympic Games. Could the OC help me with that?

A: The OC is not responsible for visiting Beijing Olympic Games. However, what we could do is to help with air booking from Guangzhou to Beijing through the local travel agency we partnered with. The Game’s ticket and accommodation arrangement is all on your own.

8. I need an invitation to apply for grant from my sponsors/university/…urgently. Can you send me the invitation in digital format asap?

A: We are working on the invitations. We will send you either the original letter by courier or the digital letter by email. Should you have the need for both (original and digital) or you need the digital letter urgently, please send you request to icsemisoc@yahoo.cn. We will deal with it case by case. PLEASE NOTE the digital invitation is not eligible for applying Chinese visa. You will need the ORIGINAL letter for visa application.
